About Me
Born and raised in rural Ballarat, I completed Year 12 at Ballarat North Technical School, and went on to earn an Honours Degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia from Federation University.
In 2012, I joined the international toy company Goldie Marketing, and the following year became the lead designer for Smurf Toys globally. (Yes, those Smurfs).
From 2015 to 2020, I served as Creative Director for Happyee HK LTD, a Hong Kong-based company founded by my longtime mentor and friend, Mr. Daniel Tam. Together, we designed and manufactured toys and statues for iconic franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, The Minions, Lord of the Rings, Astroboy, and more. We both also worked as Producers on the Chinese animated series Plan Egg for the Shenzhen Animation Company.
In 2020, I returned to Australia due to the global "Great Pause." Unfortunately, during that period, Daniel was unable to continue our work, and we wound down the company.
Later that year, I joined Wiltronics Research, a respected Ballarat business with over 50 years of continuous service under the leadership of Managing Director Richard Wilson. At Wiltronics, I took on roles as Graphic Designer, Digital Marketing Manager, and Social Media Manager. The Wiltronics E-commerce website has experienced substantial growth in Revenue and Engagement from that point.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work with Wiltronics has been developing STEM projects for high school students. These projects align with the Australian Curriculum and are now taught in classrooms nationwide.
In late 2023, I started Ballarat Graphics to merge my passions for drone videography, 3D scanning, and 3D printing into my existing workflows.
Outside of work, I am an active member of the Ballarat Chess Club and Genesis Gym. I am also an Accredited Les Mills Cycle Instructor.
Look forward to connecting,
Steve Nimmo
